The HealthTeach program partners professional students from Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Physical Therapy with San Francisco public school teachers to plan and co-teach a series of hands-on human body and health lessons in kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms.

As a future pharmacist, I am glad I had the chance to work with such a diverse group of children and learn how to present information in a way that is easily understood by everyone.

Appreciating the privilege of sharing my knowledge with youth, I strongly believe that teaching is a humble way to learn what you do not know, realize what you have forgotten, improve yourself, and change others’ lives. Plus, I wanted to emphasize to my community, especially to children, about dental health and the importance of keeping oral health, while showing them how it relates to the rest of the human body system..

Through HealthTeach, teachers and their students work closely with professional role models to learn about health and the human body, and professional students gain experience explaining science and health concepts to children with the guidance of an experienced teacher.
