Information for STEM Professionals - US2020



 

Join this exciting collaborative effort to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals! The Science and Health Education Partnership (SEP) at UCSF, in alliance with the city of San Francisco, the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), and Techbridge, fosters positive STEM role model relationships that help students understand the practical importance of science, technology, engineering, and math and to visualize how they can contribute to our collective STEM future.

    SF US2020 Provides:

  • A STEM team comprised of you, a co-facilitator, and an after school site staff member
  • Fun, engaging lessons and materials
  • A coordinator that will support you throughout your volunteer service
  • A program orientation to meet other STEM professionals, learn best practices in facilitating your lessons, and more
  • A letter that records your volunteer hours

    STEMfest Volunteer Provides:

  • An online application which will tell us about yourself, your availability, and why you’d like to share your work with youth
  • Attendance at the mandatory orientation and lesson learn (approx. 1hr)
  • Set-up, faciliation, and clean-up of the STEMfest event (approx. 3hrs)
  • A completed End of Program Survey

    Spring STEMstudy Volunteer Provides:

  • An online application which will tell us about yourself, your availability, and why you’d like share your work with youth
  • Attendance at the mandatory program orientation (approx. 4 hrs)
  • Participation in a planning meeting at the Daly Ralston Resource Center prior to the start of your lessons (approx. 2 hrs)
  • A classroom site visit prior to the start of your lessons (approx. 30 min)
  • Implementation of 4, one-hour lessons during the spring semester with your STEM team (January-May)
  • A completed End of Program Survey
